Why is my child such a picky eater?

When it comes to extreme pickiness, it's easy to feel like our children are just being difficult. But did you know that 98% of the time there are other underlying issues that are causing the feeding concern?

*Sensory processing is a common issue when it comes to picky eating. your child may be extra sensitive to the way food looks, feels, or smells and become dysregulated upon presentation or interaction. Other underlying causes can include:

*Lack of oral motor skills, making it hard to manage and swallow food safely.

*Structural concerns such as oral restrictions or dental issues.

*Medical concerns such as food allergies, acid reflux, constipation, or compromised airway etc..

Since our entire body is connected, it's so important to look at the whole picture and try to find the root cause of the issues!

⏩According to studies, 1 out of 5 typically developing children will develop a feeding disorder (Eicher, 1997)

If you feel like your child may benefit from a feeding evaluation to get to the root of the problem, don't hesitate to reach out for help!
