So does it really matter which provider I go to? Yes, yes it does. You see most medical and dental schools teach very little about the optimal way to assess and treat oral ties. So just because a provider CAN treat it, doesn't mean that they have the specialized knowledge and expertise to do so.

Here are some questions you can ask your provider?

1)Have you taken additional coursework/training in oral ties beyond medical school?

2)Do you use scissors or laser?

3)What are your pre and post op protocols?

4)Do you collaborate with other providers to achieve optimal results?

Ideally, your provider should have a good understanding of how to assess and treat oral ties, considering how it is impacting function and the full body. They should have a pre and post op plan in place and collaborate with other providers in order to achieve the most optimal results.
