So What is Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) and How Can it Help?

The Gillespie Approach to Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) is a gentle, hands-on approach that integrates craniosacral and fascial work to promote deeper healing. The therapy aims to release restrictions in the fascial system, the web of connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, and organ in the body. These strain patterns can develop in utero, during birth, or from injuries, leading to restrictions that affect the nervous system, structural alignment, and even the body's immune response.

When the craniosacral and fascial systems are properly aligned and free of tension, the body functions more optimally. Addressing the fascia is often the missing piece. CFT helps to unwind those restrictions to let the brain, muscles, bones, organs and nerves work optimally. Pretty cool right?!

I am super excited to combine CFT with myofunctional therapy, feeding therapy, and speech therapy to improve not only oral function and airway health but also overall body function and nervous system regulation. These therapies work together by promoting better alignment and function of the entire body, including the musculoskeletal, respiratory, and nervous systems.

Team work makes dream work!

I often explain that treatment is most successful when we can approach it from all three circles or categories:

1. Structural- that would be an ENT doctor, Sleep doctor, dentist, orthodontist etc..

2. Functional- myofunctional therapist, feeding therapist, lactation consultant

3. Body Posture/ Nervous system- Chiropractor, PT, OT, Body work provider

Using a holistic and collaborative approach and recognizing that the body is all connected is key. That's why I'm so passionate about helping families navigate this often complex and tricky puzzle and helping families find their team. I'm so grateful for the growing network of like minded providers in my area🙏

Have you heard of CFT? I'd love to hear your thoughts or experience with bodywork in th comments!

As always, feel free to reach out for support😊
