My son was going through a phase and his two best foods were pringles and crackers. Instead of telling him "honey you can't only eat the same two salty snack foods all day everyday" I handed him a food explorer placemat and a magnifying glass and asked him to start describing his two favorite snacks. He realized that they're both:
Crunch✔️yellow✔️salty✔️ carbs ✔️
"They're like cousins!" He announced proudly 😊 this led him to ask for more foods to explore which empowered him to try some new snacks.
Letting kids explore food with no expectations is a really great tool for helping kids feel comfortable and confident and empowered to try to new foods.
Have you tried this?
