How to Prevent Sleep Apnea

I bet you've heard of sleep apnea and how detrimental it can be to our health, but did you know that sleep disordered breathing is actually a continuum which starts with something as simple as mouth breathing. Breathing through the mouth at night can signal poor sleep quality. It typically progresses into loud breathing⏩ noisy breathing⏩ snoring and ⏩ sleep apnea.

Intervening early when signs of mouth breathing appear can help prevent more severe issues and support better oral function and airway health. Yet, many providers only act once sleep apnea develops. By knowing the signs of sleep disordered breathing and addressing these issues early, we can set out kids up for success.

If you notice mouth breathing in yourself or your child, consider reaching out to an airway specialist for guidance. It’s never too early to set the foundation for optimal health🌙💤

As always, feel free to reach out for support😊
