Slimy eggs on the counter, greasy oil puddles and flour EVERYWHERE! Are you cringing yet?? I know I am! I would much rather have the kitchen to myself while my kids play in the other room...
But I'm here to say that getting kids involved in the kitchen is WORTH IT!
Cooking with your kids is a great way to offer multiple exposures to foods without the pressure of eating them. It offers many sensory experiences such as textures, smells, and sounds. Plus it's great for fine motor skills (scooping and pouring), and language too (labeling items and talking through the steps together)! Mainly, I love the sense of connection it brings between my children and me while fostering a healthy, positive relationship towards food!
How often do you involve your kids in food prep? Let me know in the comments!
