1. Take a sip of water and trap it on the roof of your mouth. Open 👄 wide.
2. Bend your head down and up. Keep 👄 open
3. Swallow with👄open!
Why does it matter??
Because this is the functionaly appropriate way to swallow (trapping water with the sides of the tongue and keeping the tip of tongue on the spot to initiate the swallow.) If we are not doing this, we are compensating which usually leads dysfunction. We may see coughing, choking, bloatedness from excessive air being swallowed, neck strain, and/or TMJ pain...
