Considering a Tongue Tie Release? Read This First!

Are you thinking of getting a tongue tie released?

📣Here's why a frenectomy alone is not enough!

👉Just because the tongue CAN now move correctly, doesn’t mean that it WILL!

🧠The brain has gotten used to using the muscles in a specific way in order to compensate for the lack of tongue mobility.👅 After a frenectomy you will likely need to teach your muscles how to function correctly via neuromuscular education (myofunctional therapy, feeding therapy, speech therapy) to get the results you want! Therapy is most successful when started before a tongue tie release and then continued afterwards.

👉What you see in the body, you see in the mouth-

Our bodies are connected from our tongue right down to the tip of our toes! When we see tightness in the mouth, it is likely that there is also tightness in other places of the body which could be causing dysfunction and/or nervous system dysregulation. Addressing the whole body via body work (like craniosacral therapy, PT, Chiropractic) ensures that the WHOLE body is moving optimally and that all restrictions are addressed.

Many of my clients come to me many weeks, months or years after a frenectomy, frustrated that they still don't have the function they had hoped for and frustrated that no one had explained the importance of a team approach.

If you or your child had a tongue tie release, were you informed about the optimal, holistic, team approach to treatment?

I'd love to hear about your experience in the comments!

As always, feel free to reach out with questions.
