4 Underlying Causes of Picky Eating⤵️


🌟1.SENSORY: Children who have trouble processing sensory input can have a hard time with the way food smells, looks, tastes, and feels. It can cause dysregulation.

🌟2.ORAL MOTOR: Not being able to manage and swallow food safely. (gagging/ coughing). This may include structural concerns such as oral restrictions or dental issue

🌟3.MEDICAL Reflux: constipation, compromised airway, food sensitivities, enlarged tonsils/ adenoids...

🌟4.BEHAVIORAL: Most of the time psychological issues, such as anxiety, come into play as a result of other underlying concerns.


⏩According to studies, 1 out of 5 typically developing children will develop a feeding disorder (Eicher, 1997)


When it comes to extreme pickiness, it's easy to feel like our children are just being difficult. But studies show that ~98% of the time there are underlying issues that are causing the feeding concern!
