Well it really depends.
Are we talking about an anxious eater? A hypersensitive taster? A selective eater? A medically complex feeder?...
If yes, than sneaking in an extra taste or texture, or smell, no matter how minimal, may be better received with honesty. Otherwise we risk losing our child's trust and possibly eliminating one of their few "safe" foods from their diet. Instead, we can be open with them. We can involve them in the prep so they see the ingredients. We can discuss what may change when we add it and make sure to serve it along with a preferred food.
Remember the most important thing is to stay positive, stress-free and enjoy spending mealtime with your child.
So while I'm all for adding veggies to dishes whenever possible. Let's cut out the TOP SECRET stuff...
Cheers🥂
